Homeschooling is hard. Not because you’re doing it wrong — but because you’re carrying it alone, without a clear vision, without a community, and with the constant hum of “am I enough?” in the background.

That weight has a name. And it has a solution.

Charlotte Mason Powhatan exists to meet you in your weariness and walk you toward something you may have stopped believing was possible: a home that feels like a haven, days that feel manageable, and a version of yourself that feels equipped — not just surviving.

You were made for more than this. Let us show you the way.

Training

Teaching your children can be a daunting task, but is one of the most joy-filled experiences you will ever have. We use some material from The CMEC for our time together as well as some of our own curriculum. You will also receive access to a mentor who will guide you as needed.

Multiple times a year the mothers will gather to discuss both the philosophy and pedagogy (“how to”) of the model. These are included for CMP members. We will walk through the subjects one at a time to be able to give support for daily teaching.

Soon enrolling for the 2026-2027 year!

Children are persons and learning in community is a unique opportunity for them to experience the joy of learning in community. Our school families look forward to Tuesday mornings and the children delight in being together and growing in habit and their knowledge of God’s world together.

Community

We meet for book group once a month to read a volume of Charlotte Mason. This reading and discussion is a beautiful way for mothers to share the practical outworking of the model and “meet” Charlotte Mason.

Play group is twice monthly and we enjoy watching the children enjoy nature and fellowship.
